Salary: £38,000 per annum

Job Type: Permanent, 6am - 2pm Mon to Thur & 6am - Midday on Fri

Reporting to: Machine Shop Manager

Learn to work to strict safety and quality requirements, help to achieve daily production requirements in terms of quality and quantity, optimizing efficiency and maintaining operational excellence.

 

Responsibilities

  • Planning & organization of works orders & labour within the department to achieve agreed daily O.T.D.& recoveries; ensuring production time is fully utilized & productivity maximized
    • Ensure timesheets are completed & booked
  • Parts are produced in accordance with approved quality standards, procedures & process techniques as defined by the route cards & drawings
  • Ensuring that standard working practices are followed on all operations in terms of Workflow, WIP quantities, process/cycle times and procedures.
  • Continually monitors existing production techniques/methods & where identified implements improvements or alterations via the correct procedures.
  • Monitors, analyses & orders department consumable stock levels
  • Liaises with:
    • Daily shift instructions to Production Module operatives
    • Manufacturing / Project Engineers to assist in the development of new products/processes
    • Quality Engineers to ensure quality standards are understood & achieved
    • Other supervisors /managers
  • Liaise with Maintenance on breakdowns, P/M’s & W/O’s of equipment to minimise downtime & maximise machine availability.
  • Develop one’s own expertise in the operations & procedures of setting up & operating all the machines & disseminates such knowledge & skills to appropriate people within the company.
  • Ensures that 5S is totally integrated into department.
  • Adheres to the Health & Safety at Work Act at all times
  • Ensures that Environmental Protection Act Policies are adhered to in accordance with company objectives.
  • Maintains departmental disciplinary standards in accordance with established company procedures
  • Undertake other tasks within capabilities as may be requested from time to time by the Operations Manager

 

Profile

Experience

  • Previous experience in similar industry
  • Experience of people management
  • Experience of the manufacturing processes in the area of responsibility
  • Experience of working in unionised environments

Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship in manufacturing or engineering discipline
  • Qualification in leadership or management
  • IOSH certified.
