Solar Project Manager | Europe
We are seeking an experienced Solar Project Manager to lead the development, construction, and delivery of utility-scale and commercial photovoltaic (PV) projects across Europe. This role is suited to professionals with strong technical foundations and proven experience managing solar projects from feasibility through commissioning and handover.
Depending on the project context, the role may involve acting as owner’s engineer, technical advisor, or delivery-focused project manager, with responsibility spanning engineering, procurement, construction, and operational readiness.
Role overview
- End-to-end responsibility for solar PV projects across multiple phases
- Management of technical, commercial, and execution aspects of project delivery
- Coordination of internal teams, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders
- Oversight of schedule, budget, quality, and compliance
Key responsibilities
- Conduct or oversee site assessments and technical feasibility studies
- Manage or review system design, layout optimization, and performance modelling
- Oversee engineering documentation, permitting inputs, and technical compliance
- Lead or support procurement and EPC contractor selection and coordination
- Supervise construction progress, installation quality, and commissioning activities
- Ensure compliance with HSE, quality, and environmental standards
- Manage interfaces with utilities, grid operators, and regulatory bodies where required
- Provide regular project reporting on progress, risks, cost, and schedule
- Support handover to operations, asset management, or O&M teams
Required experience & qualifications
- Proven experience as a Solar Project Manager or equivalent role
- Strong background in photovoltaic power plants, ranging from commercial to utility-scale
- Solid understanding of solar PV engineering, electrical systems, and BoP scope
- Experience managing EPC contractors and multi-disciplinary project teams
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, studies, and performance models
- Strong project management skills across planning, budgeting, and execution
- Experience with energy storage, wind, or hybrid renewable projects considered an advantage
- Engineering degree (electrical, civil, electromechanical, or similar) preferred
- Ability to work independently while collaborating in international project environments
Languages
- Professional working proficiency in English
- Additional European languages (e.g. French, Italian, Dutch) considered an advantage
